A suicide car bombings that the Taliban carried out on Thursday ( 05/01/2014 ) , in Panjshir province , Afghanistan , which is usually quiet , killing 13 people , including six policemen .
" A suicide bomber detonated his car full of explosives after police know his identity , " said Abdul Aziz Ghairat , the provincial police chief of Panjshir .
" Six policemen and seven civilians were killed . A number of civilians and policemen were also injured , " added Abdul Aziz .
Afghan Interior Ministry confirmed the incident which occurred at a vehicle checkpoint that will enter the Panjshir province .
" Around 1700 , a suicide bomber who drove a Toyota sedan blew up his car at a checkpoint , " a statement from the Afghan Interior Ministry .
Panjshir province north of Kabul on the basis of anti - Taliban resistance since the group was in power in 1996-2001 . The province is relatively safe and stable since the Taliban were ousted from power .
Panjshir region in the steep mountains of the Hindu Kush is also famous for its citizens who persevere against the occupying forces of the Soviet Union in the 1980s .
