Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Danylo Lubkivsky, expressed concern about the invasion of Russia to Ukraine in the near future.
"We have information that we are in danger," said Lubkivsky told reporters at the UN headquarters, in the United States, Friday (04/25/2014).
Speaking as Ukrainian officials, Lubkivsky said pro-Russian forces had detained a team of military observers from the UN and other institutions of Europe.
Lubkivsky said 20 UN member states have spoken and said he was surprised by the possibility of a Russian invasion.
Tensions have risen in the region after the title of Russian military exercises along the border with Ukraine. Lubkivsky mention exercise as a very dangerous development and called on Russia to withdraw their troops from the border.
"We will protect our homeland from invasion," said Lubkivsky. "We call on Russia to stop this madness."
