Canadian military , Friday ( 25/04/2014 ) , issued orders investigation and imposition of sanctions for a number of allegations of widespread sexual assault in the ranks.One of 10 soldiers Canadian women reported experiencing sexual violence , according to a major report Maclean's magazine and the " brother " who speak French , L ' Actualité . Both media citing military records of investigative reporting for eight months .
Posts in the two magazines have pushed convening an internal examination . Both magazine estimated the true figure may still higher , estimated to be 10 times higher than the number reported , with allegations that there are many other cases not reported .
Both the media write the average military authorities received one report of violence every working day , or about 178 reports per day , for the time span 2002 to 2012.
Canadian Department of Defense Chief of Staff , General Tom Lawson , called the report " disturbing " and acts of sexual violence is disgusting , destructive , and contrary to the military ethos . Lawson admitted immediately ordered an internal examination over course work and the involvement of the military leadership .
Canadian Defense Minister , Rob Nicholson , said he was also very upset with the findings of a case of alleged sexual harassment in the military . " There will be no tolerance , " he stated .
